About Mill & Mortar

Mill & Mortar was established on February 1, 2008 after being in the making for six months. Behind Mill & Mortar is Iben Büchert, who previously worked in the consulting industry, but has now made his hobby and interest in food and food concepts his livelihood. Mill & Mortar sell spices from all over the world. We offer the very best quality, lots of organic, fair trade, clean label and estate products.

Suppliers – we know them and we make many demands
We work seriously to build a healthy and trusting relationship with all our suppliers, because we de-pend on them always delivering the very best quality. Conversely, this also means that the individual supplier must be satisfied with the trading and cooperation conditions that we can offer.
Our suppliers are skilled and passionate spice farmers, who are often just as concerned about quality as we are. Their agriculture is characterized by proud traditions in the cultivation of spices. Of course, we also make demands on our partners in terms of quality, processing, packaging and shipping of the products, and then we go a step further and encourage the farmers to grow and develop new varieties.

Quality – The spices are hand-harvested, hand-sorted and hand-packed
Of course, there is a difference between doing your work by hand or by machine. Our farmers mainly cultivate their land according to old traditions, which means, for example, that the spices are hand-harvested and hand-sorted. This is of course more time-consuming than mechanically processed products, but it is also a real quality assurance of the goods in the growing areas. In addition, in Den-mark we carry out a thorough quality control of everything before it is put into storage. And as a not insignificant factor, we have our very skilled packing ladies who weigh and pack the spices by hand, mix the spice mixtures manually, etc. and this form of control is indispensable for us.

Organic – with a focus on taste
We primarily have organic products in our range, we are passionate about organic, especially because in most cases it just tastes better. Spices that are not grown with artificial means are allowed to mature naturally before being harvested and this gives them the right aroma. In cases where you do not find organic products on our spice shelf, it is either because there is no organic variant or because the con-ventional spice is just a super delicate product. An example of this is our Smoked HOT Paprika.
